(Commercial Suicide-UK)

Klute's Official Website

Tom Withers, aka Klute, has been a fixture on the drum and bass scene for over ten years, lending his creativity to the likes of Hospital Records, 31 Records, Metalheadz and his early stable Certificate 18, responsible for releasing his first two albums, “Casual Bodies” and “Fear of People”. Klute is from London, UK.
In 2001 his own Commercial Suicide imprint was borne out of a necessity on Klute’s part to control his own releases as well as provide a support network for the ever increasing new generation of like minded producers. So far the label has seen releases by Klute himself, Calibre, Total Science, Digital, Amit, Break and Silent Witness. Previous to this much lauded and rebellious electronic career, Klute fronted legendary Skate-Punk outfit ‘The Stupids’, an apt schooling for a producer with this unique level of eclecticism.
Klute has released three double-albums on Commercial Suicide so far (distributed by Breakbeat Science in North America). The first, “Lie, Cheat & Steal,” included a second album titled “You Should Be Ashamed,” which followed a techno blueprint with exceptional results. The second release, “No One’s Listening Anymore,” was more straight-ahead drum ‘n’ bass with several vocal experiments. 2007 saw the third double-album, “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” featuring some of his best work yet, including tracks like “The Struggle,” the beautiful “Never Never,” and the slow but brooding “174 BPM.”

Would anyone be interested in Drumcell from Droid behavior at a techno event or party in Portland, Oregon??

Founder of Droid Recordings and co-founder of Droid Behavior, Drumcell has been one of techno's greatest allies in Southern California in recent times.

A graduate of the Musician's Institute and a long-time performer at parties in Southern California, Drumcell has been influenced by music from his earliest years. After being exposed to raves in the early 90s, He grew addicted to the sounds of acid house, techno, in its many forms, and industrial.

It was not long before he was copping turntables to satisfy his vinyl fetish. By the early age of 14 he was playing in various local bands, and through out the rest of his teenage years, cut his teeth-producing hip hop records, dub and various forms of electronic music on Los Angeles based underground labels. By combining his Production, DJing and networking skills and focusing in on his more mature musical tastes he soon established himself as one of the major players in LA's growing techno scene.

Associating with the members of Acid Circus to form Droid Behavior as an event production group and record label was the next logical step to raise awareness for techno in the city and to help expose local Artists, established djs, and performers from around the country.

Over the last 5 years Drumcell has rocked parties from big to small on a weekly basis in LA as well as gigs all over the U.S alongside such names as Kenny Larkin, john Tejada, Tim Xavier, Dan Bell, Ben Sims, Adam Beyer, Jeff Mills, Speedy J, Ritchie Hawtin, Mathew Dear, etc. and has also released quite a few heavy trax on labels omniscient, remains, heavy Industries, and his own DROID recordings imprint.

Drumcell has been known to keep on the edge of technology and continuously pushing the limits to what the future has to offer. He is always in the process of developing homebrew software as well as cutting edge hardware solution to bring a fresh innovative taste to his production and performances. When performing, Drumcell can be seen blurring the lines between a live and a DJ set by utilizing tools such as FX processors , samplers ,drum machines and other devices to weave a thick blend of acidic techno and aggressive but funky minimalist groove to ensure a frenzy amongst his listeners .

With the state of electronic music in North America leaning towards stripped down funk rather then progressive fluff these days, Droid has become the center for LA techno and Drumcell remains steadfast in his mission of putting this city on the global map.

BIO:
In 2008 few names have made the kind of impact on the worlds house and techno scenes as 24 year old Tim Green. Originally from Kent and now based in London Tim Green's production talents have seen him release music through some of the worlds most respected labels, and gaining major plaudits from the likes... of Ritchie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Pete Tong, Tiga, Josh Wink, Carl Cox, Locodice, Nic Fanciulli, Dubfire, Steve Lawler, Anja Schneider, Slam, Damian Lazarus, Tiefschwarz, Laurent Garnier, MANDY, Lee Burridge, Agoria to name a few. Add to that a string of high profile remixes and dj gigs across the globe and its not hard to see why so many people are talking about Tim as a future star.

Tim's rise to the spotlight started in 2006/7 when he released singles under the name TG for such renowned labels such as FourTwenty, Infant & Fling, and even getting remixed by the likes of Martin Buttrich, Jamie Jones & Konrad Black. Fast forward to the beginning of 2008 Tim took the decision to start recording under his own name, Tim Green as well as TG. The fruits of his production stints were some of the most interesting and forward thinking music on the planet. Interest has come from far and wide for this young prodigy. but Claude Von Stroke was first to capitalise by signing his dancefloor bomb 'Revox' to his highly acclaimed Dirtybird imprint. The track went onto become the one of the labels biggest releases of 2008. Next up German based Trapez records, easily one of the most respected techno labels on the planet, picked up Tim's dirty vocal anthem Mr. Dry which was released in August 08. Within the first week of its release, Mr Dry climbed to number one in the top 10 minimal charts on Mr. Dry went onto become one of the biggest techno anthems of 2008, being played from Fabric to Watergate, Space to Womb. If that wasn't enough legendary UK imprint Renaissance promptly signed Tim for a series of singles, the first of which was again released to acclaim in October 08, with the tracks 'Creature' & 'Give It A Go' again showcasing the versatility of his production.

Tim also embarked on a slew of high profile remixes during this time for the likes of Cr2 records, Southern Fried, Fling, Phoebic & Viva. As well as 2 huge remixes, firstly Steve Lawler's 21st Century Ketchup single on Dubfire's Sci-Tec as well as The Audio Bully's latest single 'Flickery Vision'. Again these mixes became a staple diet in many of the worlds top djs record boxes for most of the year.

The impact Tim has made hasn't gone un-noticed by the dance music press either, with Tim being names a 'Player Of The Year' In I-DJ magazines end of year summary into all things good in 2008, whilst DJ magazine nominated Tim for 'Best Breakthrough Producer' in their 'Best Of British' Awards.

So in just over 2 years, Tim has risen to working with the biggest djs and labels on the planet, and we haven't even mentioned his djing yet! Tim has been found destroying dancefloors over recent times at some of the worlds best clubs such as Fabric, The End, The Egg & Retox in London, Stealth in Nottingham, The Custard Factory Birmingham, Circus in Liverpool, Watergate, Tresor & The Weekend Club in Berlin, The Hive in Zurich, Studio 80 in Amsterdam as well as well as many more of the worlds best parties. With tours of Brazil, Australia & Asia all planned for the first half of 2009, get ready to see his name on flyer near you.

Is there a lack of techno in portland oregon or a lack of good techno in Portland?

constantly People hear people, bitch and moan about techno as a genres especially when something like dubstep is what rules the land her in Portland, Oregon. Even though techno in Portland seems to be apparent very few really seems to be pushing the boundaries with their sounds. Too many dj's are playing simply beats and just mixing to be cool, instead of challenging them selves every single day to push the limits to entirely new levels each time they play. I want to gather people with like minds that want to work on music together to give Portland techno like it has never seen before. I want to network with musicians, techno heads, people that want to work together on awesome events for the people, artists, vj's, burners, people who want to see better and stronger techno in Portland. Please contact My Myspace page or my email at motnsde@hotmail.com so we can arrange a time to discuss music. I am currently using Ableton, and reason 4 to make Techno here in Portland, beat but am wiling to learn anything.
