The Good Life: DRUMCELL w/ Special Guests DJ BRAD (MOONTRIBE) & SOLOVOX

The Good Life

NW TEKNO

DJ Brad from Moontribe, Drumcell, Solovox & so much more

Main Room SOUND SYSTEM is a Beautiful Beautiful TURBOSOUND FLOODLIGHT System from Mobius Pro Audio............. This system was doing the Moontribe/Droid Events in LA, but is now for this event--

Room 1

Drumcell
(Droid Behavior) (LA)
Droid Behavior

Founder of Droid Recordings and co-founder of Droid Behavior, Drumcell has been one of techno's greatest allies in Southern California in recent times.

A graduate of the Musician's Institute and a long-time performer at parties in Southern California, Drumcell has been influenced by music from his earliest years. After being exposed to raves in the early 90s, He grew addicted to the sounds of acid house, techno, in its many forms, and industrial.

It was not long before he was copping turntables to satisfy his vinyl fetish. By the early age of 14 he was playing in various local bands, and through out the rest of his teenage years, cut his teeth-producing hip hop records, dub and various forms of electronic music on Los Angeles based underground labels. By combining his Production, DJing and networking skills and focusing in on his more mature musical tastes he soon established himself as one of the major players in LA's growing techno scene.

Associating with the members of Acid Circus to form Droid Behavior as an event production group and record label was the next logical step to raise awareness for techno in the city and to help expose local Artists, established djs, and performers from around the country.

Over the last 5 years Drumcell has rocked parties from big to small on a weekly basis in LA as well as gigs all over the U.S alongside such names as Kenny Larkin, john Tejada, Tim Xavier, Dan Bell, Ben Sims, Adam Beyer, Jeff Mills, Speedy J, Ritchie Hawtin, Mathew Dear, etc. and has also released quite a few heavy trax on labels omniscient, remains, heavy Industries, and his own DROID recordings imprint.

Drumcell has been known to keep on the edge of technology and continuously pushing the limits to what the future has to offer. He is always in the process of developing homebrew software as well as cutting edge hardware solution to bring a fresh innovative taste to his production and performances. When performing, Drumcell can be seen blurring the lines between a live and a DJ set by utilizing tools such as FX processors , samplers ,drum machines and other devices to weave a thick blend of acidic techno and aggressive but funky minimalist groove to ensure a frenzy amongst his listeners .

With the state of electronic music in North America leaning towards stripped down funk rather then progressive fluff these days, Droid has become the center for LA techno and Drumcell remains steadfast in his mission of putting this city on the global map.

DJ Brad
(Moontribe) (LA)

MoonTribe

A veteran of both the Los Angeles and San Francisco underground rave scenes, DJ Brad has been spinning techno since 1992. His interest in the environment, yoga, and his philosophical nature are conveyed in his musical choices. Over the years Brad has been an integral member of many innovative and successful groups including Moontribe, Tropical, and Mother Earth Sound System. "I have my most profound experiences playing and dancing in the Desert under a full moon." He can energize any crowd with his seamless mixing, whether in a warehouse, intimate club, or out in the open Desert.

DJ Brad defies classification by experimenting with a variety of musical genres. Often cutting between tech-house, electro, techno, and trance, Brad says, "Whatever I play usually has an organic, tribal, funky feel and is a big head trip." In his solo DJ mix CDs, Together, Integration and Ecstaticacti, he blends many intricate soundscapes to create the flow and funkiness that is essential DJ Brad.

This mixing master has held multiple West Coast residencies. DJ Brad describes the rotating outdoor event Moontribe as a "vibrant, magical community that struck a deep chord with me." Brad is featured on Moontribe's compilation Sound Without Walls, voted by Spin Magazine (June 2000) as one of the top eight trance compilations of all time. Brad also raised the temperature at Tropical, one of Los Angeles's premiere underground house or tek-house events during his residency from 1998-2002. DJ Brad can be found on the Tropical House mix tape series volumes two, three, and five with DJ's Jason Blakemore, Mr. Annand, and John Kelley respectively.

Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Brad's earliest musical influence was his father. "He was instrumental in developing my love [of music] through his constant exploration of new music [which] he enthusiastically shared with me." From the age of ten, Brad spent his allowance on records, devouring each new style and sound from rap to new wave, ska, reggae, and early 80's electro dance music. While studying English Literature at UCLA, he paid his college tuition by practicing his newfound scratching and beat matching skills as a mobile DJ. Brad's DJ talent was soon noticed in both Los Angeles and San Francisco where Brad explainsâ "a pivotal moment occurred at Come-Unity (SF) where I watched Jeno spin such a moving set that I was inspired to take my own Djing to a deeper more meaningful level." Along with communicating to people through music, Brad holds an M.A. in Environmental Public Policy and has worked in the environmental activist community for many years.

DJ Brad's eclectic mixes flow smoothly, taking the listener on a musical journey where time and space seem to disappear. Using the language of music to unite and celebrate the earth and humanity is Brad's goal. "I see people getting involved in this wonderful, beautiful, dynamic culture, they are coming away with an experience they never knew existed before. They discover that people dancing as one, a ritual old as society, is very liberating."

Testarossa all the way from France

Since the age of 12, Thomas aka Testarossa from Marseille (France) has a burning passion for electronic music. He started Djing on his own at 14 years old and then quick turned into producing his very own tracks. Testarossa’s interest for minimal techno music grew rapidly with the huge techno scene in the south of France. Living in the South of France gave Testarossa some amazing techno inspirations including Laurent Garnier, Julian Jeweil, Mexime Dangles (kompakt), Tom Pook, and many others. Thomas influences also derived from artists like Gui Borratto, Dubfire, Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Popof, Dave Clarke, and Stephan Bodzin. After leaving France Thomas spent one year in Sydney Australia to gain additional techno inspirations. Now he is gonna murder it.
